Organisational Core
Natural resources are limited on this planet. The growing capitalism; population; consumption; over-collection and exploitation of resources; mainstream and social media challenging our intellectual capability and politics decreasing the quality of life on this planet. In the last 4 decades, due to the rise in the ‘manufacturing and service sector’ and decline in the quality ‘agricultural output’, we have witnessed and experienced the constant depletion of natural resources; degraded quality of air, water, and soil; and health issues.

Natural resources around the world are deteriorating at a very high rate. Scholars in developed and developing countries are constantly researching the impact of such natural resource degradation on living and non-living. There is growing evidence of such impact on several species including humans. The rate of extinction of species has accelerated in the last few decades and the phenomenon of extinction is visible in almost all parts of the planet. Data on the decline in the population of several plants and animal species is alarming and a threat to the ecosystem.
We understand that we will continue the over-exploitation of the available resources at an alarming speed. We also understand that our PLANET cannot be restocked with the resources available with us 3-4 decades back. However, as the most intelligent species, if we can create a locale-specific mechanism to reduce the rate of consumption and over-dependence on resources; increase the forest cover; enhance animal reproduction and growth; prevent species extinction; and educate the humans about the importance of this PLANET, its resources, and the way-of-life to achieve a liveable place for all the living beings.

Vision
LPF strives to initiate ecological resilience in the degraded areas and sustain it through the formal-informal institutional building, inclusion of the most marginalised communities, and creating an eco-entrepreneurial environment through environmental education in the schools located at rural and semi-urban areas; generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the locals through the engagement model; and assessing changes in the health of locals due to fellowship intervention.
Mission
Bringing all the stakeholders (fellows; communities; natural resource officials; corporators; municipal administration; scientists; practitioners and academicians) together to revive or rejuvenate the natural resources for sustainable development. Creating a career path for the fellows as scientists, practitioners or entrepreneurs in the areas of natural resource management and sustainability.
